President Uhuru Kenyatta's order to lower electricity tariffs has finally come true.

The Ministry of Energy said on Friday that the first tranche of 15 percent came into effect after being published in the official gazette.

"We're working hard to ensure that the next 15 percent will happen this quarter as promised," the Department of Energy said.

This reduction is expected to boost social-economic growth by lowering the cost of living, putting more money in Kenyans' pockets and reducing the cost of doing business.

In his recent Jamhuri Day Speech at Uhuru Gardens, President Kenyatta Nairobi said the reduction in electricity bills is in line with his government's promise to cut the cost of electricity to Kenyans by 30 percent by the end of the year. while initiating radical changes in the power distributor.

With the new plan, the power cost will drop from Sh24 to Sh20.4 per kilowatt by the end of this month.

This is expected to drop another 15 percent to Sh16 per unit by the end of March, when the second phase of the discount will be applied.
