Police in Nyandarua nab suspected drug peddlers with bhang worth Ksh6M

Police in Olkalau Nyandarua County caught a man in a private house and confiscated ten sacks of bhang with an estimated value of Ksh6m.

The drugs were in transit from Migori to Mombasa before being seized by police officers along the Ol Kalou-Njabini road, according to Nyandarua Central district Police Commander Abdilahi Dahir Mohamed.

Dahir explained that the suspects were ordered to stop, but they drove away. They then left the vehicle in a private house in Olkalau, where the public informed the police.

"Then they left the vehicle in a private house in the town of Ol-Kalou before the police were informed by the public," Dahir said.

The police boss also noted that bhang was transported in a Toyota Wish and stowed in sacks. One of the suspects was caught trying to escape.

"A suspect caught trying to escape on foot is currently in custody and will appear in court on Monday," Dahir told Bounce Nation Kenya.

He said Bhang would be handed over to the anti-narcotics team for further evaluation.

Recent statistics show that the route has been determined to be largely used by drug dealers to transport drugs, as it is more easily accessible to other neighboring counties.
