Nelson Havi, president of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), has formally joined the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) led by Deputy President William Ruto.

Havi was received by DP on Monday at her residence in Karen.

Those present to invite him to the party; Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago, former National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale and MPs Kimani Ichung'wah and Rigathi Gachagua.

This comes a few weeks after the LSK chief announced that he will run for the Westlands parliamentary seat in 2022.

In May, Havi announced that she was accepting calls from the Westlands constituency to represent her in Parliament in 2022.

"I have accepted the demand of the people of the Westlands Constituency to serve themselves and the nation in this capacity - MP that takes effect in August 2022 or earlier in case of dissolution of Parliament," Havi said.

Shortly after the announcement, Havi attended the Amani National Congress, led by Musalia Mudavadi, before moving on to the UDA.

The lawyer seeks to replace current MP Tim Wanyonyi, who has set his sights on the Nairobi governor's seat in 2022.

Tim will look for seats on an ODM ticket.
