City attorney and politician Karen Nyamu has announced that she will run for the Nairobi County Senator seat in the 2022 General Elections under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket.

Nyamu was formally accepted into the UDA at the Karen residence on Monday by party leader William Ruto.

"I am honored to be formally welcomed by the UDA party to run for the Position of Senator in Nairobi county 2022," Nyamu said in a tweet Monday.

“We fully support Dr William Samoei Ruto's vision to change our economic model for the benefit of Kenyans,” she added.

Nyamu ran for the Nairobi Women's representative seat on a Jubilee Party ticket in 2017 but lost to Rachel Shebesh.

Others welcomed at the UDA on Monday are East African Legislature MP Simon Mbugua and attorney Nelson Havi, who attended his first meeting since joining the camp last week.

Havi will compete for the Westlands parliamentary seat.
