Spotify Streaming App Enters Kenyan Market

The Swedish audio streaming application Spotify was recently introduced into the Kenyan market and four other countries in East Africa.

Kenyans will be able to stream music through the application for free.

Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania will join other 345 million monthly listeners to stream the music.

Speaking at the launch, The Head Of Music Sub-Sahara Africa Phiona Okumu Said “African creators have always pushed boundaries, innovating and creating incredible sounds and starting from today we are giving them access and the opportunity to connect with a global audience of fans.”

Before it was launched in Kenya, It was already available in South Africa, Algeria, Egypt and Tunisia.

Kenyans have the options of upgrading the app to the monthly premium package for Ksh 299, while the premium family package will be retailing for 479 and has an account of up to six people.
