I helped Raila become Prime Minister, Uhuru become President, I’m next in line – William Ruto says

President Uhuru Kenyatta, DP William Ruto, ODM leader Raila Odinga

Deputy President William Ruto on Friday 26 February 2021 made it clear that no one was going to stop him from succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta in the 2022 general elections.

The second in command while speaking in Nandi County, DP William Ruto said that he helped Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga become a Prime Minister and Uhuru Kenyatta become a President.

He added he was still part of the Jubilee government and that it was now time for his hustler movement to over the government.

“I am part of the Jubilee government. I formed it, what will be so hard in making a hustler government? I helped Raila become prime minister. Didn’t I help my friend Uhuru?” he told the residents.

The DP also hit out at his critics saying that he was well-aware of their plans to frustrate and block him from winning the Presidential seat in 2022.

Without mentioning names, he noted that he knows that there are some men are sitting in Nairobi to plan who will be in the next government.

He, however, told his supporters that they should not worry as he will continue to engage directly with the people.

He assured the Nandi County residents that the next government will be formed by people who speak the hustler language.

Deputy President William Ruto was in ODM leader Raila Odinga’s Pentagon camp in the 2007 General Election which the Opposition leader named the Prime Minister in the grand coalition government with former President Mwai Kibaki.

Earlier on Jubilee party Vice-chairperson David Murathe had mentioned that the party was ready to kick out DP Ruto from his official residence in Karen.

A few weeks ago, Murathe also compared President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy’s relationship saying that it was like wooing a bride. He added that there was an estrangement in the Uhuruto union.

He went on to again compare the duo’s relationship as to how people go before God and make vows but they later part ways.

A day ago, Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) secretary-general Francis Atwoli in an interview with Citizen TV confidently said that he does not know who will become the next President but he was sure that the second in command will never become one.

Atwoli also said that Rail Odinga should not be counted out of the Presidential race as he would beat DP Ruto if he decided to throw his hat in the ring.
